  About the Business

Inkblots Counseling serves kids, teens, adults, and couples in Norfolk, Nebraska. John Laskowski, Psy.D., RPT-S is a trusted psychologist in the Norfolk (Nebraska) area, having worked with a wide range of conditions for well over a decade. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from St. John's University in Minnesota and both his master's and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Wheaton College in Illinois.

  • Kids Counseling - "Dr. John" has playfully helped kids address their anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, out-of-control behavior, attention and impulsive challenges, social skills deficits, and family problems. Many have found hope, relief, focus, and confidence.
  • Teen Counseling - Adolescence is hard, and teens want to be respected if they choose to open up about issues of the heart. John conveys trustworthiness, and his youthful, down-to-earth demeanor has helped many teens find help with identity, mood, fear, behavior, and peer and family relationships... among others.
  • Adult Counseling - John integrates an interpersonal approach, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and a range of methods for therapy to be effective and feel fresh and inventive in addressing goals. He has worked with individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, and other conditions.
  • Family Counseling - When communication breaks down within a family, problematic thoughts, words, and behaviors often form. Pressure and resentment build, and people realize some form of change or breakthrough is needed. John is experienced with initiating discussion, activities, and action steps to help facilitate change within families.

Play therapy creates a safe environment in which children can freely express themselves, try new things, learn more about how the world works, learn about social expectations and boundaries, and work through their problems. Dr. John provides the tools and atmosphere to help kids try out different solutions and learn more effective coping methods. Parents are often invited into the process to learn and practice new parenting skills and/or play skills to build attachment, clarify boundaries, and improve communication. Some play interventions are especially suited for teens and adults, thereby allowing nonverbal exploration of circumstances that have become overly stressful for a person's heart and mind.
